Lin Yuan studied at Nanjing Normal University, the Beijing Lu Xun Literature Institute, and Peking University. In 2001, he went to the United States, completed Waldorf teacher training at Sunbridge Institute, and earned a master’s degree in education. He subsequently taught Chinese, history, and other subjects at Princeton Waldorf School, Brooklyn Waldorf School for grades K–8, and George School for grades 9–12. Bringing together Anthroposophy and Chinese culture as well as Waldorf and Chinese educational approaches, he created the World Chinese Language Curriculum, which became popular with American primary and secondary students and received arts-education funding awards from New York State for five consecutive years. He returned to Beijing in 2010 to found Spring Valley Academy and helped establish Spring Valley School in 2011. From 2012, he served as class teacher of the Renchen class and later chaired both the faculty council and teacher education institute. He is currently director of Spring Valley Academy, leader of the East-West International High School Diploma Program (EWIP), and founder of Qingjin Academy.
